Wharfedale TTT Junior Races - Sunday 7th July 2013

As well as the U14 and U16 age groups that can run in the senior race, there will also be separate junior races for the U8 age groups upwards. Entry form available at www.bingleyharriers.co.uk/events/wharfedale-ttt/ or contact Andy Nicoll for details on ajnicoll3@gmail.com

Entry Forms

I’ve been asked to post a reminder that the current FRA entry forms are now mandatory for all races taking place under an FRA permit.

It is acceptable for organisers to use race specific forms as long as they contain all of the elements of the FRA forms.  This requirement applies equally to relays/team events, and I should stress that all the information needs to be collected for each runner.  Further details can be found in Section 8 of the FRA Safety Requirements For Fell Races.

AGM 2013

As already announced in the Spring edition of The Fellrunner, the 2013 AGM will take place on 27 July 2013 after the Blisco Dash at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel in Langdale.

Normally, advance notice of the meeting would be given in the Summer edition of The Fellrunner. However, the filing requirements for the FRA accounts at Companies House means the accounts have to be filed before early September. This has meant bringing forward the date of the meeting from its traditional time to the late July date, avoiding August.

The advance notice sets out the broad shape that the meeting will take and gives various deadlines for various formal actions connected with the business of the meeting
.
The formal notice will be posted on the website around 1 July to give the requisite 21 days’ notice required by the articles.

Darren Holloway Memorial Race

Following the tragic death of Darren Holloway Pennine Fell Runners discussed how best to remember our friend and club mate at our AGM.

We discussed naming a race in Darren’s memory, but none of us could think of an appropriate event in the Peak District.  It was felt that the race should be new, so it would always be known as the Darren Holloway Memorial Race.  Some of you may have noticed a thread on the forum about resurrecting an epic Lakeland race of old – The Buttermere Horseshoe.

We decided this race would be worthy of Darren’s memory and the race organiser, Paul Jennings, along with his club, Cumberland Fell Runners, kindly agreed to change the name.  Darren’s family are fully supportive of the race and his son Josh is making trophies for both the male and female winners.  Darren was a runner from the Peak District, but like many of us his true love was racing in the Lakeland fells.

I’m sure you will all agree the route of the Darren Holloway Memorial Race is as magnificent as the man himself.  We hope it will serve as a reminder of Darren for many years to come.
